S3&K and KC special stages are awesome.

Everything else sucks.

^ Haven't played the S3D Saturn version, so I can't speak for that.

To this date I have not completed a 2d sonic game with all emeralds.

Nor should I have to.

Special stages are hard. :(

And some could say that modern Sonic games are the same way, and yet most of them are on TSC. Take it like a man, Stefan. Take it like a man.
<Tails> also "GET BLUE SPHERES" on a black-and-white TV remains the best special stage of all time

The Sonic Heroes special stages were pretty darn fun in my opinion. And they were easy, I mean, who hasn't unlocked the final story in that game?

Me. Because the physics of the special stages are out of this world, the controls are uncontrollable, and having to collect that damn key and carry it through a 10-15 minute level EVERY TIME you want to retry a special stage is just horrible.

Use Team Rose. I found it quite easy if you just memorize the key locations, get the one nearest to the exit, and take it from there. Are you not much of a 3d player?

Like...what?  Special stages are the shiznit, especially Sonic Heroes.  Also, I'm shocked to here that you haven't cleared -any- 2D Sonic game with all the emeralds.  I mean, 2D Sonic's are where I'm the worst, but I could finish all of them while obtaining all emeralds with little to no trouble. :/
I am the champion of TSC! >:D

Championships held:  Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Adventure (DX), Sonic Heroes, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Chaos, Sonic Drift, Sonic Drift 2, Sonic Riders, Sonic the Fighters, Sonic Battle, Sonic Unleashed (ps2/Wii), Sonic Unleashed (ps3/360), Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, Sonic Colors (Wii), Sonic Rivals, Sonic Generations.

Zero Point Championships held:  Sonic Drift, Sonic Drift 2, Sonic Chaos, Sonic Battle, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

I like my speed runs like my steaks...UNFINISHED!!!

No I'm not, because no 3D Sonic games bar Sonic R (which I like, am good at and compete in) have been truly good and/or captured the spirit or feel of the old games. Oh, and I wouldn't use Heroes as a prime example for the 3D games anyway as it's about their low point along with SSR.

The fact that you genuinely think ssr is worse than sonic 06 makes your opinion effectively null.

He was referring to Stefan.

Also Sonic R does pwn, I just haven't filled the charts or spent time on any stats for it.

But I keep my opinion about Heroes special stages.

I just have fond memories of finally making it to the last special stage of Sonic 2 and having a severe WTF moment at the 'random' ring patterns.

Still, BLUE SPHERES MUST DIE thatisall kthx.

Sonic games i've beaten with special stages (without cheating/save states):

Sonic 1
Sonic 2
Sonic CD
Sonic Chaos
Sonic 3
Sonic & Knuckles
S3&K
Sonic Drift 2 (all three cups)
Sonic R (doesn't have SS, but too lazy to del)
Sonic Advance 2
Sonic Heroes
Sonic Advance 3
Sonic Rush
Sonic Rush Adventure

I really don't see how anybody can find them difficult. I've even done it with Sonic and Tails in Sonic 2 and found that easy as well. >.> Sonic Advance 1's suck though. That's the only one I actually find mind numbing and have yet to figure out how to complete them. Sonic 3D Genesis. everybody hates by default.

My favorite SS is possibly Sonic 1. The whole tilt-the-ball game ordeal was quite nice, but can also get annoying. The half pipe idea i really hate because it's been done like ten thousand times. Sonic Rush's was notably the best one, and have yet to play 3D Saturn. It does look nice, though.

I never even got to SAdv2's special stages because of that retared system of having to find 7 special rings every time which are dotted SOMEWHERE in the stages and which you lose again after dying.

Also to fix RPG, Blue Sphere is shit and Heroes SSs are even shitter.
